Key Takeaways
Freshworks is not one product. Freshsales is the CRM, Freshdesk the support desk, Freshservice the IT service desk and Freshchat the messaging layer — four separate subscriptions, four seat counts, four renewal dates.
Vendor-published annual-billing rates in August 2026: Freshsales from USD 9 per user per month, Freshdesk from USD 19 per agent per month, Freshservice from USD 19 per agent per month. Monthly billing runs roughly 20 percent higher.
Freddy AI is an add-on, not an included feature. Copilot is USD 29 per agent per month on Pro and Enterprise, and customer-facing AI Agent work is metered at USD 49 per 100 sessions once the bundled 500 are used.
Freshworks opened a UAE data centre on AWS in June 2024 covering the MEA region — the closest hosting any major global vendor offers to Riyadh. It is still outside the Kingdom, so a Saudi buyer is making a cross-border transfer under PDPL.
The free tiers have been quietly cut. Freshdesk retired its free-forever plan in mid-2025 for a two-agent, six-month programme, and the CRM pricing page now leads with a 21-day trial. Most comparison articles still describe both as permanently free.
What Freshworks Actually Is
Freshworks is a NASDAQ-listed software company selling four overlapping business tools under one brand, and the most common mistake Saudi buyers make is treating it as a single product with a single price.
It began in Chennai in 2010 as Freshdesk, founded by Girish Mathrubootham and Shan Krishnasamy as a deliberately cheaper answer to Zendesk. The company renamed itself Freshworks in 2017 as it added products either side of the original helpdesk, moved its headquarters to San Mateo, California, and listed on NASDAQ under the ticker FRSH in September 2021. It reported USD 720.4 million of revenue for its 2024 financial year and states it serves more than 75,000 customers worldwide — a vendor figure we have not independently audited.

That heritage matters more than it sounds. Freshworks has always competed on being the reasonable option — not the cheapest tool on the market, not the deepest, but the one a mid-sized team can configure without hiring a consultant. Its products score consistently well with reviewers on setup speed and interface clarity, and consistently less well on reporting depth and customisation ceilings. If you have used Zendesk or Salesforce and found them heavy, that gap is the entire commercial argument for Freshworks.
For a Saudi buyer the relevant question is not whether Freshworks is a good product — it broadly is — but whether a global platform designed in India and California fits a business that runs in Arabic, invoices under ZATCA rules, and holds personal data governed by PDPL. Those three tests are where this review spends most of its time, because they are precisely the ones the vendor's own marketing does not answer.
The Product Family, Untangled
Four products, several bundles, and at least one live pricing page that contradicts the others. Here is what is actually on sale.
Freshsales is the CRM: contacts, deals, visual pipelines, a built-in phone, email integration, sequences and forecasting. Freshdesk is the ticketing helpdesk: email and social tickets, automations, a knowledge base, SLA management and reporting. Freshservice is the IT service desk, aimed at internal IT rather than customers, covering incidents, changes, a service catalogue and asset management. Freshchat is live chat and messaging, including WhatsApp and Instagram channels.
Where it gets confusing is the bundles. Freshdesk Omni is the omnichannel package that folds ticketing, chat and voice together, and it is priced separately and higher — third-party pricing trackers consistently place it at USD 29, 79 and 119 per agent per month on annual billing, against USD 19, 55 and 89 for plain Freshdesk. Meanwhile Freshworks still publishes a standalone Freshchat pricing page listing its own Growth, Pro and Enterprise tiers at USD 19, 49 and 79 per agent per month plus a free tier for up to ten agents. Both cannot be the live commercial reality for a new buyer, and the vendor does not reconcile them anywhere we could find.
The practical instruction is simple. Before you quote a number internally, open the pricing page for the exact product you intend to buy on the day you buy it, screenshot it, and get the plan name written into your order form. We found live vendor pages disagreeing with each other in August 2026, and third-party comparison sites disagreeing with both.
Freshsales — The CRM Side
Freshsales is the reason Freshworks appears on Saudi CRM shortlists at all. At USD 9 per user per month it undercuts almost every serious competitor, and it is not a hollow product at that price.
Growth gives you a visual pipeline, contact and deal management, a built-in phone, email integration, basic workflows and contact scoring. Pro at USD 39 per user per month adds multiple pipelines, time-based workflows, territory management, deal insights and sales sequences. Enterprise at USD 59 adds field-level permissions, audit logs, a sandbox and a dedicated account manager. All three are annual-billing rates taken from Freshworks' own CRM pricing page; monthly billing runs roughly 20 percent higher, which is where the widely-quoted USD 11 and USD 47 figures in third-party roundups come from. They are the same plans, quoted on a different billing basis.
The jump from Growth to Pro is the number to model before you sign. It is a 4.3x increase, and it is where most of the automation lives. A ten-person Saudi sales team on Growth pays about USD 1,080 a year; the same team on Pro pays about USD 4,680. That is still cheap against HubSpot Sales Hub Professional at USD 90 per seat per month on annual billing, but it is no longer a rounding error — and Growth is deliberately thin enough that growing teams do not stay on it for long.
What we like
USD 9 per user per month is genuinely the lowest entry price among credible CRMs — Zoho CRM starts at USD 14, HubSpot Sales Hub Starter at USD 20 per seat
Built-in phone and email come with the plan rather than arriving as a separate communications add-on
Setup is fast enough that a Saudi SME can be running real pipelines inside a week without an implementation partner
A 21-day trial of the fully-loaded CRM, which is long enough to test with your own data rather than a curated demo dataset
What to watch
The Growth-to-Pro jump is 4.3x and most automation sits above it — price the plan you will be on in year two, not year one
There is no ZATCA e-invoicing anywhere in the product; you will still need a certified invoicing platform such as Qoyod, Wafeq or Zoho Books alongside it
Freshdesk — The Support Side
Freshdesk is the older and, for most Saudi buyers, the stronger half of the company. It is a competent, quick-to-configure ticketing system that does the ordinary things well and the exotic things not at all.
Growth at USD 19 per agent per month covers ticketing across email and social channels, automatic ticket assignment, a knowledge base, canned responses, SLA management and out-of-the-box reports. Pro at USD 55 adds custom roles, multiple products, custom reports and dashboards, round-robin routing and a customer portal you can genuinely brand. Enterprise at USD 89 adds skill-based routing, a sandbox, audit logs and approval workflows. All annual-billing rates from the vendor's page.
The free tier is where the story has changed, and where a great deal of published advice is now simply wrong. Freshdesk used to run a free-forever plan. It was retired in mid-2025 and replaced with a Free Program capped at two agents for six months, no credit card required, after which you upgrade or stop. Freshworks' own support documentation is explicit that the Free Program applies to Freshdesk only and is not available in Freshdesk Omni, and that exceeding two agents without upgrading blocks you from reverting. If you are reading a comparison article that describes Freshdesk as permanently free for small teams, it predates the change.
What we like
Genuinely fast to stand up — teams routinely go live in days, and reviewers consistently rate onboarding as its strongest attribute
USD 19 per agent per month undercuts Zendesk Suite Team at USD 55 by a wide margin for comparable core ticketing
The data centre region is selectable at signup, including the UAE region — a real advantage over vendors offering only US or EU hosting
What to watch
The free plan is now a six-month, two-agent programme rather than a permanent tier — do not build a support operation on it
Reporting is shallow out of the box; custom reports and dashboards begin at Pro, which is USD 55 per agent per month
Reviewers repeatedly flag inconsistent support response quality and friction cancelling subscriptions — get your cancellation terms in writing
Freddy AI, and What the AI Actually Costs
Freshworks markets AI heavily. It is worth being blunt about the commercial structure, because the marketing and the invoice describe two different products.
Freddy AI comes in layers. Freddy AI Copilot is the agent-facing assistant that summarises tickets, drafts replies and suggests next actions; it is an add-on at USD 29 per agent per month on Freshdesk and Freshservice, and it is available on Pro and Enterprise plans only. Freddy AI Agent is the customer-facing autonomous bot, and it is metered rather than seat-priced: paid Freshdesk plans include 500 sessions, after which packs cost USD 49 per 100 sessions. The same USD 49 per 100 sessions rate appears as an add-on on the Freshsales pricing page.
Run that arithmetic on a real Saudi support team. Ten agents on Freshdesk Pro is USD 550 a month. Add Copilot for all ten and it becomes USD 840 — a 53 percent increase simply to switch on the capability the homepage leads with. If your deflection bot handles 2,000 sessions in a month, that is a further USD 735 once the bundled 500 are consumed. None of this is expensive by market standards. It is simply not included, and buyers routinely budget as though it were.
There is also a language question the brochure does not address. Freshworks publishes no benchmarks for Freddy AI Agent deflection quality in Arabic, and none at all for Gulf dialect as distinct from Modern Standard Arabic. If Arabic deflection is the business case for buying the AI, insist on a scripted pilot against your own historic Arabic tickets before you commit to session packs. A bot that deflects 60 percent of English tickets and 15 percent of Arabic ones is a very different investment from the one on the slide.
Our honest read: Copilot earns its money on a busy queue, and AI Agent does not until ticket volume is high enough that deflection beats the per-session cost. Model both against your actual monthly ticket count rather than the vendor's worked example, and revisit the maths at renewal rather than assuming it holds.
Arabic, RTL and the Saudi Data Question
This is where a global platform meets local reality, and the answers are considerably less clean than either the vendor or the comparison sites suggest.
Start with data. In June 2024 Freshworks opened a data centre in the UAE, built on AWS and announced from Dubai, positioned as the centre of its Middle East and Africa operations and serving customers across 72 countries in the region. At signup you choose your data region from the US, EU, India, Australia or MEA, and for the core products — Freshdesk, Freshservice and Freshsales — ticket data, contact records and knowledge base content sit in the region you pick. Named regional customers include Aramex, Landmark Group and Magrabi. That is a real investment, and for Gulf users it materially reduces latency.
But the UAE is not Saudi Arabia. Under the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law, transferring the personal data of Saudi residents outside the Kingdom is restricted, and SDAIA's Regulation on Personal Data Transfer Outside the Kingdom, issued in 2024, permits it only where defined conditions and safeguards are met. Choosing the MEA region does not make you compliant; it makes the transfer shorter. You still need a documented lawful basis, a transfer risk assessment and the appropriate contractual mechanism, and the obligation sits with you as the controller rather than with Freshworks. In a regulated sector, get that assessment done before the pilot, not after the rollout. Confirm the region at signup too — changing it later is a migration request handled by support, not a settings toggle.
What we like
A UAE data region on AWS is the closest hosting any of the major global CRM and helpdesk vendors offers to Riyadh
Region choice is exposed at signup rather than buried in an enterprise-only negotiation
Freshchat's agent interface localisation explicitly includes right-to-left support for Arabic and Hebrew
What to watch
RTL coverage is uneven across the estate — Freshworks' own documentation states the Freshdesk help widget does not support right-to-left languages such as Arabic
UAE hosting is still a cross-border transfer under Saudi PDPL; treat the data region as a latency and comfort improvement, not a compliance answer
Where Freshworks Falls Short
Six things that would make us slow down a Freshworks purchase, or send a particular kind of Saudi business elsewhere entirely.
01
The per-product bill compounds
CRM, helpdesk, ITSM and chat are separate subscriptions with separate seat counts and separate renewal dates. A twenty-person company running Freshsales Pro for eight sellers and Freshdesk Pro for six agents is managing two contracts, not one platform. Model the whole estate before comparing the cheapest line item with anyone else's bundle.
02
AI is an add-on, not a feature
Freddy Copilot at USD 29 per agent per month and AI Agent at USD 49 per 100 sessions sit on top of a plan that already has to be Pro tier or above. The AI in the marketing is not the AI in your starting subscription, and the gap between the two is where budgets break.
03
Free tiers have been cut back
Freshdesk's free-forever plan was retired in mid-2025 for a two-agent, six-month programme, and the CRM pricing page now leads with a 21-day trial rather than a permanent free tier. Any plan you found described as permanently free deserves re-checking against the vendor page today, not last year.
04
Reporting depth disappoints at scale
The most consistent complaint across independent review sites is that reporting is shallow out of the box, and that meaningful analytics, workflow customisation and the better AI all sit behind higher tiers. Build your three most important reports during the trial — not after the purchase order.
05
No ZATCA e-invoicing anywhere
Freshworks does not issue ZATCA Phase 2 compliant tax invoices from any of its products. If you sell in Saudi Arabia you will pair it with a certified invoicing platform and maintain an integration across the seam. Budget for that integration and decide who owns it before you sign.
06
Billing and cancellation friction
Independent review sites carry a recurring pattern of seats appearing without clear intent and of difficulty cancelling subscriptions. Insist on written cancellation terms, review seat counts monthly, and avoid multi-year prepayment until you have survived one full renewal cycle.
Pricing in Full — Per Product, Per Seat
Every figure below is the vendor's own published annual-billing rate in US dollars as observed in August 2026, with an approximate riyal equivalent at the pegged rate of SAR 3.75 to the dollar. Monthly billing runs about 20 percent higher across the board, and all figures exclude the 15 percent Saudi VAT you will be charged.

Full ITSM with asset management, orchestration and AI
On top of the plan sit the add-ons, and they are where the real bill forms. Freddy AI Copilot is USD 29 per agent per month on Freshdesk and Freshservice Pro and Enterprise. Freddy AI Agent sessions cost USD 49 per 100 beyond the 500 included on paid Freshdesk plans. Branded documents on Freshsales is USD 19 per user per month. Freshservice asset management is licensed in packs of 500 asset units. None of these appear in the headline number that got the vendor onto your shortlist.
The bundles sit above all of it. Freshdesk Omni, which combines ticketing, chat and voice, is tracked consistently by third-party pricing monitors at USD 29, 79 and 119 per agent per month on annual billing — roughly a 50 percent premium over plain Freshdesk at the same tier name. Freshworks also still publishes a standalone Freshchat page with Growth, Pro and Enterprise at USD 19, 49 and 79 plus a free tier for up to ten agents. We could not reconcile those pages against each other, so ask your sales contact in writing which product and which plan you are actually being sold.
A worked example, because headline rates mislead. A Saudi company with eight sellers on Freshsales Pro and six agents on Freshdesk Pro, with Copilot switched on for the support team, pays roughly USD 312 plus USD 330 plus USD 174 — about USD 816 a month, near SAR 3,060, before VAT and before a single AI Agent session. The entry price that put Freshworks on the shortlist was USD 9.
Alternatives Worth Comparing
Freshworks sits in a crowded middle: cheaper than the enterprise incumbents, less localised than the regional specialists. These are the three platforms we would put beside it on a Saudi shortlist, with the trade-off stated plainly in each case.

Zoho
The closest thing to a like-for-like alternative, with a wider suite behind it. Zoho CRM, Desk and Books cover sales, support and ZATCA-approved invoicing under one vendor relationship, with full Arabic right-to-left support across the interface rather than the patchy coverage Freshworks offers.
The stronger pick if your team works in Arabic day to day, or if you want ZATCA-compliant invoicing inside the same vendor relationship rather than bolted on.
HubSpot
The benchmark for usability and reporting in the mid-market, with the deepest marketing automation of anything on this list and a free CRM tier that is genuinely usable rather than a trial in disguise. Arabic support is limited and there is no ZATCA capability.
Worth the premium if marketing and sales alignment is the actual problem you are solving; overkill and overpriced if you only need a pipeline and a ticket queue.
Zendesk
The incumbent Freshdesk was built to undercut, and still the deeper support platform once volume and routing complexity rise. Full Arabic right-to-left support, a much larger app marketplace, and a pricing structure that climbs steeply once you move past basic ticketing.
The right answer for a large or complex support operation; the wrong answer for a ten-agent team that would pay roughly triple for capability it will not use.
Our Verdict
Our Verdict on Freshworks
Freshworks is a well-built, fairly priced global platform that has done more than most of its peers to serve this region — and still asks a Saudi buyer to accept compromises on Arabic and on data residency that a local vendor would not. It belongs on the shortlist. It does not automatically win it.
Strongest dimension
Price per Seat4.6 / 5
USD 9 for CRM and USD 19 for helpdesk on annual billing are the lowest credible entry prices in their categories, and the products at those tiers are functional rather than decorative.
Coverage
Product Breadth4.2 / 5
CRM, customer support, IT service management and messaging from one vendor is a genuine consolidation story — undercut slightly by four separate subscriptions and four renewal dates.
AI and automation
Freddy AI Value3.8 / 5
Copilot is useful on a busy queue and priced sensibly at USD 29 per agent. Marked down because it is an add-on above Pro, and because Arabic deflection quality is unpublished and untested.
Weakest dimension
Arabic and Saudi Fit3.3 / 5
RTL support is inconsistent across surfaces, there is no ZATCA e-invoicing at all, and the nearest data region is in the UAE — which is closer, but still a cross-border transfer under PDPL.
Buy it if you want capable CRM and support tooling at the lowest defensible price, your team works comfortably in English, and your legal function is content to document a cross-border transfer to the UAE. Look elsewhere — most obviously at Zoho — if your agents work in Arabic all day, if you want ZATCA-compliant invoicing inside the same vendor relationship, or if your sector regulator will not accept personal data leaving the Kingdom. And whatever you decide, price it from the vendor's own page on the day you buy, because we found Freshworks' own pages disagreeing with each other in the month this review was written.
Frequently Asked Questions
01How much does Freshworks cost per month?
It depends entirely on which product you mean, because Freshworks is four separate subscriptions. On annual billing as published in August 2026: Freshsales is USD 9, 39 and 59 per user per month for Growth, Pro and Enterprise. Freshdesk is USD 19, 55 and 89 per agent per month for Growth, Pro and Enterprise. Freshservice is USD 19, 49 and 99 per agent per month for Starter, Growth and Pro, with Enterprise quoted on request. Monthly billing runs roughly 20 percent higher than all of those figures, which is why third-party articles quote USD 11 and USD 47 for Freshsales Growth and Pro. At the pegged rate of SAR 3.75 to the dollar, Freshsales Growth is about SAR 34 per user per month and Freshdesk Growth about SAR 71 per agent per month, both before the 15 percent Saudi VAT.
02Does Freshworks support Arabic and right-to-left layouts?
Partially, and the coverage is uneven enough that you must test the specific surfaces you need. Freshchat's agent interface localisation explicitly includes right-to-left support for Arabic and Hebrew. On the other side, Freshworks' own documentation states that the Freshdesk help widget — the embedded widget your customers interact with — does not support right-to-left languages such as Arabic and Hebrew. The practical answer is that Arabic content works, but RTL layout fidelity varies by product and by surface. During the trial, load real Arabic customer names and ticket text into every surface your team and your customers will actually touch, and check each one. Do not take a feature-grid checkmark as proof.
03Where is Freshworks data stored, and does that satisfy Saudi PDPL?
Freshworks lets you choose a data region at signup from the US, EU, India, Australia or MEA. The MEA region is a data centre in the UAE, built on AWS and opened in June 2024, which Freshworks describes as the centre of its Middle East and Africa operations serving 72 countries. For Freshdesk, Freshservice and Freshsales, your ticket data, contact records and knowledge base content sit in the region you select. It does not satisfy PDPL by itself. The UAE is outside the Kingdom, so hosting Saudi residents' personal data there is a cross-border transfer, permitted only where the conditions and safeguards in SDAIA's transfer regulation are met. You need a lawful basis, a transfer risk assessment and the appropriate contractual mechanism, and that obligation sits with you as the data controller. Choose the region carefully at signup, because changing it later is a support-handled migration rather than a settings toggle.
04Is Freshworks still free? What happened to the free plans?
The free tiers have been reduced significantly and most published advice on this point is out of date. Freshdesk's free-forever plan was retired in mid-2025 and replaced by the Free Program: up to two agents, six months, no credit card, covering core ticketing, a knowledge base and out-of-the-box reports. Freshworks' documentation states it applies to Freshdesk only and not to Freshdesk Omni, and that exceeding two agents without upgrading blocks you from reverting. On the CRM side, Freshworks' own pricing page now presents three paid plans and a 21-day trial of the fully-loaded product, while numerous third-party roundups still describe a permanent free tier for up to three users. Check the vendor page on the day you sign up, and do not architect a support operation around a tier that may not exist next quarter.
05Freshworks or HubSpot for a Saudi team?
They solve different problems, and price is the smallest difference between them. Freshworks is the value play: USD 9 per user per month for CRM against HubSpot Sales Hub Starter at USD 20 per seat, plus a helpdesk from the same vendor at USD 19 per agent and a UAE data region that HubSpot does not match. HubSpot is the better product if marketing and sales alignment is the real problem — its automation, reporting and free CRM tier are stronger, and its interface is the benchmark the rest of the market is measured against. Neither offers ZATCA e-invoicing, and neither has fully reliable Arabic right-to-left support across every surface, so a Saudi business will pair either one with a certified invoicing platform. Choose Freshworks if your constraint is budget and support tooling; choose HubSpot if your constraint is go-to-market sophistication. Trial both with your own pipeline data before committing to an annual term.
